| Nandan Nilekani is an Indian entrepreneur and one of the founders of 'Infosys', the famous Indian computer company. He is a hero and source of inspiration for the educated Indian middle class who sees him as a man who has reached great heights in life by the sheer force of merit. He decided to be an independent contractor in the early years of his life after observing his father's frequent transfers and subsequent moves. He was transformed from a small boy in the city to a confident and mature young man after receiving an education from IIT, a place where he learned to work hard and be part of the team. He also understood the importance of giving back to society, an important trait of his personality that remains intact after so many years. After graduating and working for a few years in a company, he decided to start his own business with some of his colleagues and so, "Infosys" was formed where he held various positions for the next 28 years. After leaving his company, he held the position of President of UIDAI (India's Unique Identification Authority), a national system of government that aims to provide a unique identification number for all residents of the country.
