| Raghuram Rajan was born on February 3, 1963 in the city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.He graduated from Delhi R. Public School Puram, then from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. He received the "gold medal of the director" at the end of his studies in electrical engineering from the institution of the Ivy League, in 1985. Raghuram then studied at the coveted "Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad". In 1987, he graduated from the well-known Business School with his Business Administration Graduate Diploma and earned the distinction of winning the gold medal. |

| Rajan began a university career as an assistant professor at the Booth School of Business, affiliated with the University of Chicago. During his tenure, he has been invited to lecture at many renowned institutions such as the Stockholm School of Economics and the Kellogg School. His prowess as an economist was proven when he was appointed IMF Economic Counselor and Director of Research. 2003-2006. Also in 2003, he wrote the book "Saving capitalism of capitalists: Unleashing the power of financial markets to create wealth and multiply opportunities" in collaboration with Luigi Zingales. The document generated a lot of criticism at the time, but the eventual slowdown in international markets rallied many of his views. |
