| Ummul Kher Born into a conservative family from Marwar, Rajasthan, Kher moved to Delhi with her family when she was five years old. The family lived in a slum in Nizamuddin. His father was a street cloth seller. When the area was demolished, the family moved to another slum in Trilokpuri. Ummul Kher suffers from a fragile bone disease and has suffered 16 fractures and eight surgeries. |

| Ummul Kher studied at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Disabled until the V standard. After that, she studied in a charity run by the government, Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust up to the VIII standard. His mother died then. Her family forbade her to continue her studies beyond class VIII, thinking that she, a girl, had already received more than enough education. His intentions were questioned. Ummul Kher then took the painful decision to leave the house and live alone at Jhuggi Jhopri Cluster, Trilokpuri. She began giving classes to slum children to support themselves. Although dangerous, Kher had no choice but to live alone. Meanwhile, Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust funded his studies and financed his tuition fees for Classes IX and X. In Class XII, Kher reached 91% and obtained admission to a prestigious Delhi University College, Gargi College. . She continued to take tuition to finance her college education. She also got the money she needed so much by winning college debate contests. She has a degree in Psychology Hons. |
