| Karthik Sivakumar also known as Karthi is an Indian film actor. He was born on May 25, 1977 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Karthi works in the Tamil film industry and few Telugu films. He is the brother of actor Suriya. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration in Industrial Engineering. During his study life, he always wanted to be a popular film actor. Karthi debuted on screen with Tamil Film Aaytha Ezhuthu and his debut Telugu Oopiri. He is selected by Paruthiveeran film, Aayirathil Oruvan, Naan Mahaan Alla, Madras, etc. Karthi has received four Filmfare Awards, twice Vijay Awards, SIIMA Award for Best Actor. |

| When Karthi returned to Chennai, he met with director Mani Ratnam, who offered him the role of Arjun in the film Aayutha Ezhuthu. He declined the offer and worked as an assistant director on the same film and his Hindi version Yuva because he wanted to become a director and preferred to direct acting, although he appeared as an extra in Aaytha Ezhuthu. He continued to receive acting offers and his father convinced him to act, saying "... we can still direct films but we will not have the chance to act once you have aged". He accepted his first acting assignment in April 2005. When director Ameer approached him to play the main character of the movie Paruthiveeran, he accepted the offer because the film was "... so compelling". |
