| Arya was born on December 11, 1980 in Kerala, India. His birth name is Jamshad Cethirakath and he uses Arya as his screen name. He attended SBOA Matriculation and Upper Secondary School and Crescent Engineering College in Chennai. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree. After completing his studies, he began working as an assistant software engineer. Filmmaker Jeeva was his neighbor and approached him for the lead role in Ullam Ketkumae. He began his acting career with Arinthum Ariyamalum in 2005 alongside Prakash Raj, Samiksha, Navdeep and Adithya Menon, the film was a huge box office success and Arya received Filmfare Male Debut Award for his role. |

| Arya was approached by filmmaker Jeeva to audition for his Ullam Ketkumae in 2003. The couple had lived in the same neighborhood. Arya signed the project and Jeeva gave it the name of the scene. The movie has been delayed. Arya's first appearance was Kutty, in Vishnuvardhan's Arinthum Ariyamalum, the film becoming a commercial hit and being called a "super hit". The film featured Arya as a gangster's adopted thugged son, and his performance earned him acclaim leading to a Best Male 2005 Filmfare Award. Reported that Arya in a supporting role "goes away with all the applause" and "has everything in him to do the big league". |
