| Rajesh Khanna was born 29 December 1942 in Amritsar, Punjab, Rajesh Khanna was adopted and raised by foster parents, relatives of his parents. He attended San Sebastian High School in Goan. During school days, Rajesh Khanna slowly became interested in theater and did a lot of plays at school. In college, he has won numerous awards in inter-college drama competitions. In the early 1960s, he struggled as a newcomer to find work in the theater and movies. In March 1973, Rajesh Khanna married Dimple Kapadia and they have two daughters. |

| Rajesh Khanna made his film debut with the movie Aakhri Khat. He has been noted for his excellent performances in such films as Aurat, Ke Sapne Baharon, Doli, Ittefaq and Aradhana. Thanks to Aradhana, he acceded to the "instant national celebrity" and critics have named him as the first superstar of India. In 1971, Haathi Mere Saathi became his greatest success and also the biggest at that time. In 1974, BBC made a film called Bombay Superstar. Between 1969 and 1971, he recorded 15 consecutive super solo hits, making it an uninterrupted record in the history of Indian cinema to this day. Even today, his style of branding and delivery of dialogue remains the favorite of mimicry artists. Between 1976 and 1978, Rajesh Khanna appeared in four box office successes and nine films that were not so successful. |
