Yash Pal was born on November 26, 1926 is an Indian scientist, educator and educator. He is known for his contributions to the study of cosmic rays, as well as being a builder of institutions. In his last years, he became one of the country's leading science communicators. Beginning his career at the Tata Institute of Basic Research, he then became chairman of the University Scholarship Commission from 1986 to 1991. In 2013, he was awarded the highest civilian honor, Padma Vibhushan. |

Yash Pal began his career at the Bombay Institute of Basic Research as a member of the cosmic ray group. He went to MIT for his Ph.D. and returned to TIFR, where he stayed until 1983. In 1972, the Government of India established its Space Department and launched an independent space program. Yash Pal took charge as the first director of the newly established Space Applications Center, Ahmedabad, in 1973. At the same time, he continued to be on the faculty of TIFR.The administrative tasks of Yash Pal at the governmental level and beyond began with his appointment as Secretary-General of the Second United Nations Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. He held the positions of chief consultant, planning commission and secretary of the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, and was appointed chairman of the Commission on University Grants. funded by the UGC, modeled on the Nuclear Science Center |
