| Zakir Hussain was born in Meerut, India. He graduated from the National Theater School in 1993. He has a passion for acting as a child. He has also played in school dramas and plays. Before acting in films, he first played in a television series. He started winning fans and recognized as a series actor like Firdaus, Kitty Party and Gaatha. Later, he was signed in the Bollywood film Ek Hasina as a villian role from where his career began to shine in Bollywood films. |

| He started with series like Firdaus, Kitty Party and Gaatha, which earned him recognition. Sriram Raghavan's first film, Ek Hasina Thi, in 2004, was his first film as an actor. Hussain's second outstanding performance was his role as Shardul in another Raghavan film, Johnny Gaddaar. This performance was so well received by the audience that people in the street began to address Hussain as Shardul. Hussain's role in the film was limited to two scenes, but he managed to impress the director Ramgopal Varma who then offered him the role of Rashid in Sarkar. This role of a cold-blooded villain was much appreciated and Hussain received the "New Menace" award at the 2006 Stardust Film Awards. After Sarkar, Varma launched Hussain in almost all his productions. |
